When you receive a grant from MRAC, you are required to acknowledge the source of the funding in a variety of ways. Read on to find out where to use acknowledgment language, what acknowledgments should say, and download logos. You can also find this information in your Grant Agreement when you log in to Submittable
Where do I acknowledge MRAC?
Acknowledgment of MRAC funding is required on all publicity materials both print and digital. This includes (but is not limited to):
- printed materials such as flyers or programs
- films and videos
- social media posts
- emails and news releases
- web sites
If there are no printed materials for your grant-funded activities, you must acknowledge MRAC funding verbally. For example, if your stage performance does not have a printed or digital program, you should read the acknowledgment language before the show begins.
Social Media Tagging
If you or your organization/group has a social media presence on Instagram or Facebook, we invite you to tag MRAC in your posts related to your grant-funded activities. This does not replace acknowledgment requirements, but does allow MRAC to follow our grantees and share relevant posts as we grow our social media audiences. At this time, we will not accept invitations to “collaborate” on posts.
What should the acknowledgment say?
If you have received a Arts Impact for Individuals, Creative Connections, or Flexible Support grant (MRAC’s publicly-funded programs), your acknowledgment should include the following sentence:
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
If you have received a Next Step Fund grant (supported by the McKnight Foundation), your acknowledgment should say:
This project is made possible by the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council through a grant from the McKnight Foundation.
What logos do I need in my acknowledgment?
For Arts Impact for Individuals, Creative Connections, or Flexible Support (MRAC’s publicly-funded programs), you will need to include both the MRAC logo and the Legacy Amendment logo wherever the acknowledgment sentence is included.
For Next Step Fund (supported by the McKnight Foundation), you are required to include only MRAC’s logo.
You’ll find links to download our logo files below.
Legacy Amendment Logo
For Legacy Amendment logos and guidelines, visit the Legacy Amendment website.
MRAC Logo Rules
- Nothing may be printed over the MRAC logo, nor within the area surrounding it on all sides equal in measure to the height of the letter “t” in the word metro (at whatever size the logo is displayed).
- The MRAC logo may not be combined with other images or designs to create a new symbol or image.
Download MRAC Logo Files
PDF versions
This is a vector format of the logo, similar to .eps, .ai, and .svg files. However it’s possible for users who do not have a design software to open and see a logo in PDF file format. PDF files are intended for use in print design applications, and are resolution independent so they may be used at any size. These PDF files may be downloaded directly.

WebP Files
A high- and low-resolution format most commonly used for web and email applications. WebP files may also be used with a wide variety of document creation applications, such as Microsoft Office software. There are limits to how large these files may be used and viewed since the pixels with which they are rendered become visible and blur the image after they are enlarged beyond a certain point (varies by individual file size and resolution). The files we provide will enlarge clearly to 10” wide. Please note that older operating systems may not be able to preview WebP files outside of an internet browser after downloading.

What other acknowledgments are required of grantees?
If you receive a grant funded through state dollars (Arts Impact for Individuals, Creative Connections, or Flexible Support), you should send a letter or email of thanks to the elected officials who represent you or your organization/group in the Minnesota Legislature.
You can find your representatives via the Minnesota State Legislature website. For all grantees, you should use the primary address listed in your grant application.
We have provided sample language for your letters on our Be an Arts Advocate page, but the more personalized your note, the more effective it is!
Please note, Next Step Fund grantees are not required to send notes of thanks to the McKnight Foundation or their representatives.
