The Arts Impact for Groups grant provides up to $10,000 in funding to help groups create and sustain Minnesotans’ access to the arts. Groups must be Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC); and/or disabled people/people with disabilities; and/or Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual/Agender, Two-Spirit (LGBTQIA2+) led. Groups’ primary addresses must also be located in Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott or Washington county. This program supports the production of artistic projects, and/or projects that strengthen the organizational capacity and operations of groups providing access to the arts.
On March 28, 2023 the MRAC board approved $1,076,356 in funding for the following 109 groups or organizations to receive grant awards in the Arts Impact for Groups grant program for FY23.
Before the program application due date, 62 groups/organizations requested and received applicant services (i.e. meetings with MRAC staff, assistance via email, language support), and 48 applicants viewed the Grant Information Webinar. Additionally, two meetings were held in Spanish and one alternative/audio recording application was received. Grant guidelines and documents were provided in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole and in accessible formats.

Hmong Outreach Network
Funding will be used for Hmong an educational program detailing the fall of Laos and our exodus to Thai refugee camps. We draw on community of artists, folk singers, historians, academics, and elders.
Funding for Drama Interaction to introduce dance and movement as creative expression to students 18 mo.-4 years old with Down Syndrome along with their parents or caregiver at Gigi’s Playhouse.
Chin-ye Ya-mni (Three Brothers)
Funding to initialize a project making arts accessible to disabled, marginalized, and otherwise underprivileged Minnesotans via digital art technology, physical access, training, and inspiration.
Mendota Mdewakanton Dakota Tribal Community
Funding for our 26th Annual Traditional Wacipi, a three-day Native American artistic, cultural celebration, and social gathering. Activities will take place in Mendota, Minnesota in September 2023.
