On December 15, 2020, the MRAC board approved funding for 14 organizations to receive funding in the second round of the Equity Response grant program for FY21. $35,000 in awards were granted to the organizations listed here. Black Storytellers Alliance
Funding to hire a consultant to help the organization with bookkeeping and the development of 5-year growth plan.
Indigenous Peoples Task Force
Funding for the costs associated with the Ikidowin Acting Ensemble to amplify the social media voice and change the narrative on American Indians.
Intro to Success
Funding for core artist healing sessions to help process anxiety and anger related to the pandemic and racial uprisings, imbuing reflective meditation in the creation of a community healing project.
Powderhorn Park Neighborhood Association
Funding to develop an artist dashboard to streamline the organization’s ability to connect artists to internal and external opportunities.
Funding for Purple Playground’s Academy of Prince “It Always Snows in December” Songwriting Workshop to teach teens collaborative songwriting skills inspired by Prince’s legacy.
The Urban Spectrum Theatre Company
Funding to provide training in online and social media activity, and to stage a preliminary production utilizing said training and setting the stage for a new way of doing things.
Arcata Press dba Saint Paul Almanac
Funding for the BIPOC Artists Collaborative to share knowledge, explore ideas, and advance collaborative capacity to accelerate social change through access to the arts.
Funding for space to provide weekend dance classes every week to learn about the traditional Ecuadorian folk dance of the “Capariche.” Dance classes are open to youth and adults and are taught in English and Spanish.
Funny Asian Women Kollaborative (F.A.W.K)
Funny Asian Women Kollective and Blackout Improv will collaborate on a live-streamed panel and discussion on a Year in Review of 2020.
Funding for a mural collaboration with community youth members, where space and materials to paint an 8×8 feet panel will be provided along with technical art classes and logistical guidance.
Planting People Growing Justice Leadership Institute
Funding to host a workshop series that focuses on inspiring BIPOC youth to become literary artists who share stories that reflect their cultural heritage and support for a youth writing competition.
Ride or Die Revolutionists
Funding for a documentary exploring the legacy of Chicanx activism in Minnesota from the perspective of youth activists who are trying to connect to their roots within la lucha.
Funding to help children build relationships to be empowered and empathetic through listening and sharing personal experiences.

Funding to plan a program to launch public-facing arts programming led by people with disabilities for people with disabilities to present work.
Dark Muse Performing Arts
Funding to produce the second installment in The Uprising series of peaceful protests and performances. The Uprising Volume II: Black HERstory will focus on the experience of Black womxn then and now.
Iraqi & American Reconciliation Project
Funding to inform and plan accessible and safe arts programming to the Iraqi Minnesotan community in this unprecedented crisis.
Minnesota Prison Writing Workshop
Funding to purchase keyboards for special, prison-specific tablets for MPWW students and mentees. Because typing access has been suspended during the pandemic, keyboards will increase arts access.
Funding for BRIDGE, a new residency for one BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA+ mid-career performance based artist. This residency provides 150 hours of space for one year.
Red Eye Collaboration
Funding to pilot OMNIVERS, a new program that will provide radically flexible, multifaceted support to BIPOC multidisciplinary performance-based artists over two years
Revolution Dance Works
Funding to create a prototype dance touring rider for RDW-sponsored project Rumble Strips, addressing company safety and production needs, for queer artists.

Eastside Stories Production Group
Funding for an online weekly video series that highlights Eastside BIPOC residents and business owners. The purpose is to amplify marginalized voices and to create a deeper sense of community.

Funding for a series of six 30-minutes segments, hosted by Anastasia Ellis and Alexei Moon Casselle, including conversations about issues in the music industry with performances from local musicians.
