You don’t need to be an SEO expert (or even hire one for that matter) to get your organization to dominate the search results. In this session, you’ll learn tried and true simple, yet powerful concepts and actual tips and techniques that you can apply today to start seeing measurable growth. This is SEO as it should be – demystified and practical (and effective!). If your nonprofit needs to get in front of more of the right people, but you’ve felt limited by budget and resources, this session was made for you.

The world of digital marketing is truly the wild west – and because it changes so rapidly, it will likely be that way for a while. It seems nearly impossible for any one organization to keep up with all of the new advertising platforms and tactics appearing every day; and yet, we all know the positive impact online advertising can have on your business. In this session, you’ll learn the number one best-kept secret in this industry: that nearly everyone is self-taught, and the tools to teach yourself are just a click away. You’ll learn about the different types of online advertising – including paid search, paid social, and display – as well as how to determine which is best for your organization, and how to execute that advertising today. We’ll also share how your nonprofit can take advantage of that free Google ad money!
There is an optional work session on November 6 from 9-11 am as a follow-up to this workshop where Chris and Austin will be in attendance to help as you implement or refine your SEO and online advertising.

Chris has over 20 years of continuous learning and experience in digital marketing as a practitioner, educator, and entrepreneur. He has led digital marketing initiatives for fortune 100 organizations to small start-ups to nonprofits across various industries. In August of 2019, Chris co-founded Sober Theory, a company that helps people who want to live a sober life find success and happiness in their sobriety through simple, proven systems, and tools based on science, wellness, and results.
Austin comes from a diverse marketing background specializing in not only search, social and display media, but also graphic design, writing & creative strategy. She has worked both with start-ups and established digital agencies in the US and Europe, helping to build new digital media processes & best practices at each organization she’s joined. She has experience in various industries – from nonprofits to Fortune 500 companies. Her favorite part about the digital landscape is that it’s ever-changing, providing a new challenge each day – and new tools to reach the right people in the right ways.
