Media ’Shark Tank’ — or pitching journalists
Wednesday, March 21 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pmNo cost to participate
What does it take to get the attention of journalists working under tight deadlines — especially in today’s fast-paced news cycle? How can you create a buzz? Hear from two seasoned journalists, Allison Herrera and Anna Pratt, who are colleagues at PRI (Public Radio International) and have worked as reporters and editors and in social media for a wide range of news organizations and mediums. Come with your ready-made pitches, and they’ll do a critique, “Shark Tank”-style. They’ll discuss some best practices for pitching your stories to news outlets — and making them stand out — and provide real-life examples of what has and hasn’t worked. You’ll walk away with some concrete tips to start applying right away.
