Jamie Barton, mezzo-soprano & Jake Heggie, piano – Virtual Concert
Tuesday, May 25 @ 12:00 am - 11:30 pm
An event every day that begins at 12:00 am, repeating until Saturday, June 12, 2021
Schubert Club is proud to present critically acclaimed mezzo-soprano Jamie Barton in her International Artist series debut with nationally awarded composer and pianist Jake Heggie. Together, they will perform works by Heggie as well as other art songs by Brahms, Florence Price, Purcell, and Schubert.
Winner of the Beverly Sills Artist Award and Richard Tucker Award, the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition, the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and a Grammy nominee, Ms. Barton has been described by Opera Magazine as “a once-in-a-generation voice, a born communicator, a deeply compassionate human being with so much to give to audiences – Jamie Barton is an artist whose time truly has come.”
Barton is a champion for lifting up women and other marginalized communities, through her own platforms as well as her volunteer work with Turn The Spotlight, an organization working to identify, nurture, and empower leaders among women and people of color – and in turn, to illuminate the path to a more equitable future in the arts. Don’t miss the International Artist Series debut from one of the great voices of our time.
Our virtual concerts are free to watch and available to all. No ticket reservation necessary. The live streamed video will premiere on our website (schubert.org) and YouTube channel (search “The Schubert Club) on May 12 at 7:30pm and will be available until June 12, 2021.
