As arts administrators and artists, we know in our ‘guts’ that art is powerful. In this workshop-style session, we will explore the ways art provides social provocation, reflection and inspiration as it relates to building a world that is equitable and just. Together we will explore more deeply how arts organizations can actively lean into their strengths in advancing equity in an age of urgent need.

Presented by Dameun Strange. Dameun is an award-winning composer who imagines a world where creative institutions and artists are valued as equal partners in designing strong, equitable communities. Celebrated as an artist and activist organizer, Dameun served as Executive Director of the Northeast Minneapolis Arts Association (NEMAA) where he worked to promote and support quality and diversity of artistic resources to benefit artists, art and the greater community. He also works with Imagine Deliver, a consulting firm helping organizations reach their goals, where he ensures the arts are a central component to every client project.

Please contact MRAC at 651-523-6388 or bethany@mrac.org if there are any accommodations that would help you maximize your experience in this workshop.
