As part of many arts activities funded through MRAC, an ASL interpreter is often offered or engaged, but how much do you know about the language and the Deaf culture?

This class will teach participants the basics of ASL including how to introduce yourself and will provide a short overview of Deaf culture as well as a storytelling experience. Each participant will learn how to tell the ABC story. Attendees will leave knowing the ASL alphabet and with exposure to ASL storytelling and with an appreciation for including those with hearing disabilities in your programming. A second session building on these skills will be offered November 19 from 1-3 pm.

The instructors for this session are Terryann Nash and Rebecca Demmings of Diversity Alive!
