Next Step Fund

[English] The Next Step Fund, funded by the McKnight Foundation, provides project grants up to $5,000 to artists in any discipline for the purpose of research, career development and/or artistic achievement. Applicants may be at any stage in their career, but must demonstrate a history of activity in their artistic field. Individuals must have a primary residential address in Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, or Washington county.

This grant is designed to enable individual artists to learn new professional or artistic skills, conduct planning and research for creative projects, increase their public visibility or reach, and/or produce new work.

The deadline for Next Step Fund applications is January 10, 2022 at 11:59 p.m.

[Español] El fondo Next Step Fund, financiado por McKnight Foundation, proporciona subvenciones de proyectos de hasta $5,000 a artistas en cualquier disciplina para efectos de investigación, desarrollo profesional o logro artístico. Los solicitantes pueden estar en cualquier etapa en su carrera, pero deben demostrar una trayectoria de actividad en su campo artístico. Las personas deben tener una dirección residencial principal en el condado de Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott o Washington.

Next Step Fund Guidelines

The Next Step Fund grant guidelines are comprehensive and will help you to put together an application.

The Next Step Fund Evaluation Rubric will be used by panelists to review and score your application.

Online Application

There are a few ways to go to the online grant interface to access the Next Step Fund application. Once you are at the grant interface, you must log into your existing account or create an account.

MRAC Staff Assistance

MRAC Staff are on Winter Break from December 23 to January 2.

Your questions or requests for meetings will be attended to when staff return from break.
