Status: Full-time, exempt, eligible for benefits
Salary: $50,000 annually
Location: Fully remote, with potential for in-person activities in the Twin Cities Metro.

Organization Summary: The MRAC is a nonprofit organization serving formal and informal groups with annual arts programming expenses of less than $400,000, and artists in Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott and Washington counties. The MRAC is one of eleven regional arts councils throughout the state of Minnesota. The regional arts councils are funded by an appropriation from the Minnesota Legislature, the Legacy Amendment Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, and by The McKnight Foundation.

MRAC’s mission is to increase access to the arts in 7-county metropolitan area communities by providing information, organizational support and grants. It is MRAC’s vision that artists, arts organizations and arts activities thrive; that art is integrated into the fabric and identity of every community; and that public value of the arts is understood, acknowledged and acted upon by community members, leaders and policy makers. 

Position Summary: The primary purpose of the Panel & Events Manager position is 1) Panel Management: to manage the panel program, including recruiting new and returning panelists, managing panel logistics, maintaining panelist communications, and to work collaboratively with staff to develop strategies to advance equity in the panel process and 2) Events Management: to host virtual and in-person engagement events, to ensure the events are accessible, and to work collaboratively with staff to develop and plan engagement events and activities.


  • Serve as organization’s panel manager 70%
    • Recruit and coordinate panelists who reflect the demographic and geographic diversity of the region. 
    • Schedule panelists for orientation.
    • Gather feedback from Program Directors on arrangement of panel groups.
    • Prepare presentation slides and panel review materials for each grant program.
    • Provide consistent and adaptive communications with potential and current panelists.
    • Coordinate panelist accessibility accommodations.
    • Host virtual panelist orientations in collaboration with Program Directors.
    • Order panel books when requested by panelists.
    • Administer the online evaluation process.
    • Send applicant emails with panelist names and board approval date.
    • Create data reports during the online evaluation period to track panelist progress and check for accuracy in their evaluations.
    • Host virtual panel review days for select grant programs.
    • Gather feedback about the panelists’ experiences.
    • Collect payment information from panelists and generate panelist stipend spreadsheet for Director of Administration.
    • Upload evaluation summaries to organization record when requested by applicants.
    • Review and make recommendations to revise the panel policies and procedures.
    • Based on equity goals set by the organization, make new panelist connections.
    • In collaboration with staff and informed by priority communities, develop strategies to advance equity in the panel process.
    • Identify community networks for new panelist recruitment and do outreach to referrals from past panelists.
    • Coordinate staff recognition of panelists after their panel review session.
    • Facilitate the staff/board approval process for new or returning panelists.
    • Generate panelist qualifications report for Director of Administration to process awards, and generate panelist names list to publicize on website.
    • Participate in pre-grant and post-grant round meetings to work with the team on panel challenges, opportunities, and improvements.
    • Maintain accurate panelist data in the panelist database.
  • Host engagement events 15%
    • Host virtual events via Zoom or other platforms, and manage event logistics, including promotions, registrations and accessibility accommodations.
    • Host in-person engagement events, and manage event logistics, including promotions, vendors, registrations, and accessibility accommodations.
    • Manage event budgets.
    • Work collaboratively with staff to develop and plan engagement events and activities.
  • Other team related commitments and responsibilities 15%
    • Interact with MRAC applicants, contractors, and the public, via telephone or email, and answer questions and provide technical assistance or information about MRAC.
    • Attend staff meetings and participate in planning.
    • Assist with grant check-in as needed.
    • Assist with communications projects as requested.

Expected Skills, Knowledge, and Ability

  • Experience in exercising sensibility and diplomacy in handling all matters, information, and relationships;
  • Strong writing skills and experience;
  • Ability to work efficiently, manage multiple tasks with appropriate prioritization, adhere to deadlines, and adapt to evolving circumstances;
  • Strong people skills, emotional intelligence, cultural competency, and ability to work well with others;
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills, with high accuracy;
  • Computer proficiency, including use of email, database, spreadsheet, presentation, word processing, calendaring, Google applications, and web page applications;
  • Experience with managing and using client relationship databases, and has general knowledge of data usage practices;
  • Volunteer management experience, including communicating with and coordinating schedules for 60 – 100 people per event;
  • Project management experience, including managing a budget, interpreting written information, and analyzing data to support conclusions;
  • Ability to work in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for the entirety of a typical working day.
