MRAC Awards $239,138 in Capital Grants

On November 27, 2018 the MRAC board awarded $239,138 to 26 organizations in the Capital grant program. With Capital grant funding, grantees will be able to purchase equipment and related supplies and services, or to make capital improvements, in order to advance the mission of the group and make a significant or long-term impact to the organization.

The Capital grant funds will provide arts organizations in the Twin Cities Metro area with resources and expertise to continue with strong arts engagement with the communities. This program is intended to make structural investments in groups who are achieving both high artistic engagement with their communities and those with potential for organizational growth and advancement.

This grant program is made possible by an appropriation from the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the State’s general fund. Geographic listings represent the county where the arts organization is located; note that Minneapolis and St. Paul are listed separately from the Suburban Hennepin and Suburban Ramsey counties.

Funding to purchase 9 Mic Bodypacks, 12 earset microphones, 3 lavalier microphones, 2 handheld microphones and 1 antenna distribution system to improve the quality of the sound in the auditorium for plays and other performances.

Funding to purchase a high definition professional audio recording studio computer system for the recording studio and learning facility.

Funding to purchase the Eternal Lighting Cube Echo System 5, Ape Light Maxi, and Ape Light Transceiver in order to have a new lighting system for theatrical and other event productions.

Funding to purchase a computer and acquire a sound system and stage lighting to brighten up community performances.

Funding to purchase three portable fume extractors, each equipped with three flexible ventilation arms, to improve health and safety for artists and students.

Full Circle Theater Company $8,870.00
Funding to purchase computers, iPads, a printer, and a video camera, along with basic office furniture for the purpose of increasing the organizational and artistic capacity of the organization.

Funding to purchase two new laptop computers, software, and a printer/scanner to support the work of the new Development Team.

Funding to purchase professional video recording and post-processing equipment to video record and archive concerts, workshops and lecture-demonstrations.

Funding to purchase 10 Canon DSLR camera kits and accessories, and 2 Macbook Pros with photo editing software for the “Photo-Storytelling Project.”

Iraqi & American Reconciliation Project $6,996.00
Funding to purchase two new laptop computers, two iPads, associated software, a printer, a projector screen, office furniture, and appliances to increase organizational and artistic capacity and effectively create spaces for meaningful dialogue.

Funding to purchase a large group sound amplification speaker system for use in large events; two smaller mini systems for use in smaller group events and training sessions; and a computer and related equipment for online arts training outreach.

Funding to purchase 18 marching drums and carriers to support multiple marching ensembles and fulfill the mission of the organization.

Funding to purchase dance costumes for the youth dancers of the group.

Funding to purchase stage curtains, walk-along track and rigging hardware to be installed around the perimeter of the performance area in the studio, transforming the space into an adaptable performance venue and classroom.

Funding to purchase frequency-agile UHF wireless microphone systems.

Funding to commission 3 sets of authentic costumes that accurately convey Kathak traditions and can be used in company productions, plus a new camera & color printer to reproduce exceptional images of these costumes to more effectively communicate the artistry to potential presenters, funders, and the media.
