In March, 2010, MRAC awarded $293,780 to 65 organizations/projects in the second round of its 2009/2010 Community Arts grant program. The arts projects will reach approximately 100,000 people and involve more than 3,400 artists. The awards represent a 27% increase in the number of funded groups and an 106% increase in the amount of funding over the same grant round in FY09 as a result of the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund of the Minnesota Legacy Amendment. The grants will help fund art festivals, summer music in the parks, theater classes and performances, cultural dance performances, visual arts exhibitions, a variety of arts related workshops and classes, and more. The organizations receiving grants demonstrate strong artistic quality and response to articulated community needs. All applications go through a competitive peer review panel process. The MRAC board makes the final decisions on all grant panel recommendations.

The following is a list of this round’s grant recipients sorted by the county of activity. Each entry includes a short description of the project and the amount of the award. The grant recipient's web address (when available) is also included as a way to access more information about a specific arts organization and project.

The Community Arts grant program is funded by an appropriation from the Minnesota State Legislature and the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. MRAC also receives a generous grant from The McKnight Foundation.
